JESSICA OROZCO - PEZ COLLECTORS

Today we interviewed Jessica Orozco, a United States collector, and host of the PEZ Christmas Gathering in California.

What's your name, where are you from? 
Hi, my name is Jessica Orozco and I live in Upland, CA, USA, and have lived here off and on my whole life.

When and why did you start collecting?
I started collecting when I was about 2 years old… I would get them for the Holidays and when I would see one I didn’t have my mom would buy it for me. 

How many dispensers do you have?
I have over 3000 PEZ dispensers that is not including any doubles.

Where do you buy dispensers?
I get my PEZ dispensers for all over the world. I do trades, I shop on eBay, I go to antique stores, I go on hunts for the currents to all of my grocery stores and toy stores.

How do you store them? 
I have all of my vintage, crystal and convention dispensers on display in three different display cases in my house. All of the newer PEZ are stored in big plastic containers.  

Do you have some rules for collecting or anything related about PEZ it's ok?
I have a very large collection and it seems to grow everyday. I try my best to get all of the new PEZ out from all over the world and when it comes to vintage PEZ, I only go after the ones I really like. I love collecting vintage PEZ in the original cello bags. 

Which is your favorite dispenser?
I have 5 all time favorite dispensers… Full body Santa, Die Cut Easter Bunny, Easter Bunny A and B and Witch A.

Of those that already exist, what would you like to own?
I would love to own Witch B… the Witch with the Taller Hat.

Which character would you like to be made as a PEZ dispenser?
I would love to see the Seinfeld TV Show Characters turned into PEZ.

Do you have anything else to say?
Being a PEZ Collector is one of the very best things in the world. I have met and talked to so many wonderful people and made so many great friends all through collecting PEZ. I love how non PEZ people are so amazed that there are so many PEZ collectors, and I tell them what I show them isn’t even half of what is out there. PEZ collecting is so much fun.
