AARON LAMAY - PEZ COLLECTORS

Today we interviewed Aaron Lamay, a United States collector.

What's your name, where are you from?
Aaron Lamay. Born in New York, moved to Texas in 92, then Virginia in 97, Georgia in 2002, California 2009, now I currently live in Rhode Island.

When and why did you start collecting?
I started collecting PEZ in the early 90’s after going to a flea market and picking up a Sylvester PEZ, which I still have and display. Immediately following I started picking up more and more PEZ. Once I joined the navy I started getting access to more since they sell them on base cheap, also going to different countries I was able get Euro and Japanese issued PEZ.

How many dispensers do you have?
Over 2500 different PEZ about 10.000 with double, triple, quadruples.

Where do you buy dispensers?
On base, Walmart, Target, eBay, Visitor Center, CVS, Walgreen's, Wegman's, Stop 'N' Shop, 5 Below, etc, etc, etc..

How do you store them?
Most in 55 gallon totes but try and display as many as I can.

Do you have some rules for collecting or anything related about PEZ it's ok?
Started collecting MOC, MIB and 1 loose and all and everything PEZ, but it started getting out of hand so I decided just loose is fine I find they display way better. Additionally I have scaled down on collecting anything PEZ and just getting the things I wanted.

Which is your favorite dispenser?
Pony-Go-Round of course.

In PEZ Visitor Center

Of those that already exist, what would you like to own?
Make a face, more ponies, all the vintage fruits, I love bootlegs as well.

Which character would you like to be made as a PEZ dispenser?
I’d like to see Thanksgiving sets and St. Patrick’s Day sets.

Do you have anything else to say?
I am currently working on a price guide with pictures. I have gotten a lot of feedback from the collectors with what they would like to see in it and hope everyone likes it. I think the cover contest was a great way to incorporate the collector and get them involved. Additionally I am the Admin of the PEZ Guide Facebook page as well as the PEZ Community Facebook Page (both unofficial). Feel free to say hello to me either in person or on Facebook.
